Today the Open Integration Engine project submitted its application to join the Eclipse Foundation.
The application begins the process of moving OIE, its name, its code, and its governance, to a neutral foundation that answers to no single vendor. The goal is a project owned by its community rather than any one company.
For organizations running healthcare integration on OIE, that means a stable home under neutral governance, with mature processes and clear IP practices beneath the systems that move your data every day.
How the project works day to day does not change. The release train keeps running on schedule, the codebase stays open, and the community keeps directing the work. What changes is the foundation beneath it.
From here the proposal goes through community review and a formal creation review before the project enters incubation at Eclipse. All of it happens in the open, and we will share each step as it does.
We are also laying the groundwork for an Eclipse Working Group, a place for the organizations that depend on OIE to shape its roadmap, fund its growth, and help promote it across the industry.
To get involved with the working group, or to follow along, reach out on Discord or at info@openintegrationengine.org.
